10 THINGS TO DO AT THE FESTIVAL AND KING’S THEATRE IF YOU ARE A STUDENT

1.       Enjoy 20% off all food and drink at the Festival Theatre Café

Food at the Festival Theatre Café is delicious and caters for everyone (including vegan and gluten-free options), but what makes it taste even better is the fact that you can get 20% off all food and drinks (including alcohol!). It is for a limited time only (September and October 2017), so don’t miss out!

2.       You can spend hours people watching

Are you easily distracted? So are we, which is why we love to sit and people watch in the Festival Theatre Cafe. Take a seat by the glass wall facing streetside and watch the world go by.

3.       Soak up the history of the buildings

Whether you are at the Festival Theatre or the King’s Theatre, there’s tales aplenty. Did you know that the Festival Theatre stands on Edinburgh's longest continuous theatre site or that the King’s Theatre was opened in 1906 and boasts a mural dome design by Scottish icon John Byrne.

4.       Get £10.00 standby tickets

We know money is tight, which is why you can buy £10 Standby tickets for most of our shows on the day of the performance. All you have to do is go to our Box Office on the day of the show after 12pm with your student ID card and ask for availability*.

5.       Enjoy a glass of wine in our many bars

We’ve got numerous bars in both of our theatres, but we particularly like the Tudor Bar at the King’s Theatre. Located on the stalls area, it’s an old-school bar that has been the hang-out for countless artists, musicians and writers through the years. Soak up the atmosphere before catching a show.

6.       Meet a star

Stars are always walking around the theatre and going for food and drink at our cafes and bars, so keep your eyes peels, you never know who you are going to meet!

7.       Make use of the concession discounts on all our shows

There are no standby tickets available for your favourite show? Don’t panic, all our shows benefit from Concessions discounts available to students and Young Scot card holders. If you are tight for money but love theatre, we would recommend you book some of our upcoming screenings, as tickets are only £12.50 with our concession discounts.

8.       Become a theatre student ambassador

You will have the chance to see some world class shows for free at our venues, meet the teams behind the scenes and participate in a range of workshops. What’s not to like?

9.       Name a festival honey bee for just £3.00

We know – You are a student and you don’t have cash to spare, but if you are conscious of the environment, you can name a Festival Theatre Honey Bee for only £3! You will help the environment, help us become greener and help the diminishing honey bee population. It’s a win-win situation.

10.   Go backstage and become a theatre expert

Join our monthly backstage tours and learn all about the workings of a busy theatre, the tricks of the trade, the stories of past and present and a few ghost stories too!

Not available on all shows. Subject to availability. Valid Student or Young Scot ID required. Ask at Box Office for details (0131 529 6000).
